Zabriskie se lance dans la grande Biennale
Mais gardons-nous jamais notre soi numérique propre ? Que pourrait être l’hygiène numérique (en bref, digigène) ? Comment pouvons-nous nettoyer notre aura numérique ? Explorez avec nous le rôle des données et ce qu’elles racontent sur nos vies, pourquoi elles valent tant d’argent, le principe de l’économie des données et pourquoi les données sont politiques.
Dans la première partie de l’atelier, nous aborderons différents aspects de la vie privée numérique. Nous nous pencherons sur les éléments quotidiens de la vie connectée d’aujourd’hui, des moteurs de recherche aux applications de messagerie en passant par le trafic d’emails, et nous examinerons qui collecte quelles données, où, comment et dans quel but. Dans la deuxième partie de l’atelier, nous explorerons de manière ludique comment les téléphones portables suivent notre position et utiliserons Genève comme toile à dessin.
Début de l’atelier : 14h00 et 15h30 à l’île de Rousseau.

Zabriskie goes Big Biennale
Living in a pandemic, our sanitary behavior had to adapt these past two years: sanitizing our hands multiple times per day, wearing masks and keeping our distance. We integrated these routines for our hygiene to protect ourselves and others and applied this to our immediate surroundings. In consequence of the distance, we increased the usage of our screens.
But do we ever keep our digital self clean? What could be digital hygiene (short, digigène)? How can we cleanse our digital aura? Explore with us the role of data and what it tells about our lives, why it is worth so much money, the principle of data economy and why data is political.
In the first part of the workshop we will discuss different aspects of digital privacy. We will take a look at the daily things of today’s connected life, from search engines to messenger apps to email traffic, and look at who collects what data, where, how and for what purpose. In the second part of the workshop we will playfully explore how mobile phones track our position and use Geneva as our drawing canvas.

À propos de Max Frischknecht
Max Frischknecht est un chercheur en design, un programmeur et un graphiste qui s’intéresse à l’impact de la numérisation sur divers domaines de la société. Actuellement, il est étudiant en doctorat en Digital Humanities à l’Université de Berne et je fais partie du projet de recherche Participatory Knowledge Practices in Analog and Digital Image Archives. Il est membre de la Digitale Gesellschaft et du collectif d’artistes Basel.codes.

About Max Frischknecht
He is a design researcher, programmer, and graphic designer with the focus on the impact of digitization on various areas of society. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in Digital Humanities at the University of Bern and part of the research project Participatory Knowledge Practices in Analog and Digital Image Archives. He is a member of the Digitale Gesellschaft and the artist collective Basel.codes.
